In March this year, the Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) welcomed Mr Mohammad Ramdhan Pomanto, Mayor of Makassar City, Ms Silvia Halim, Deputy for Facilities and Infrastructure of Nusantara National Capital Authority (NNCA/IKN), and 20 other Indonesian officials from Makassar City, NNCA/IKN, Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPENNAS) and Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR).
Amongst the officials were Mr Agus Ahyar, Director of Basic Infrastructure, NNCA/IKN, and Dr. Ir. Hari Suko Setiono, Head of Transportation Planning Division, PUPR.
This 3-day visit was a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in March between CLC and NNCA/IKN dedicated to knowledge sharing, capacity building and research, in support of a smart and sustainable Nusantara.
Through this visit, the delegation was able to garner insights on the planning, operations, and governance of Common Services Tunnel (CST) and the associated infrastructure, as well as more information on sustainability, waste and utility management. It comprised a series of site visits to Marina Bay CST (hosted by URA) and District Cooling System (hosted by SP Group), Energy Storage System at Jurong Island and Tengah Floating Solar Farm at Tuas (hosted by Sembcorp), waste management facilities at Tuas South Incineration Plant (hosted by NEA) and Tengah Town (hosted by HDB). PUB also shared on the topic of Used Water and Water Reuse Management in a presentation to the delegation.

In conducting these sharing sessions and workshops, CLC facilitates mutual knowledge exchange in building smart and sustainable cities, sharing from past experiences in urban transformation, and gaining insights into the rare development of a capital city from a green field site.

CLC looks forward to further collaboration with our Indonesian counterparts through other knowledge sharing platforms and key platforms such as CLC’s World Cities Summit.
