“More and more stakeholders are involved in every policy’s decision-making, which means evidence-based policy-making is more and more important.”
- Dr Miree Byun, Director and Senior Research Fellow of Seoul Institute’s Future Research Centre [translated from Korean]
The annual Seoul Survey provides objective data for the Seoul Metropolitan Government to evaluate policy outcomes and to set the direction for future policies. However it is getting increasingly difficult to conduct such large-scale citizen surveys in the 15 years she has worked on this, says Dr Byun. “Our sample size is about 20,000 households, which is about 50,000 individuals… we survey everybody in the households.” This is why Seoul is now considering the possibility of an internet-based survey in future.
