The Centre for Liveable Cities welcomed a delegation from Indonesia to the knowledge exchange workshop titled: Smart and Sustainable Nusantara Urban Governance, held in Singapore from 14-16 November. CLC was pleased to have officers from the Nusantara National Capital Authority (NNCA/OIKN), the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), and the Ministry for National Development Planning (BAPPENAS) at the workshop.
The three-day workshop featured experienced Singapore urban practitioners, from agencies like URA, LTA, PUB, HDB, NEA and SNDGO, who shared their wealth of knowledge and technical experience gleaned from being a part of Singapore’s urban development journey.
The delegation also had a chance to visit:
ST Engineering’s Innosuite for its smart urban solutions;
Singapore ETH Centre’s Future Cities Lab for its digital simulations that aid urban planning; and
Housing Development Board’s for its implementation of smart technologies in Punggol.

Some of the delegation members also visited the Singapore Botanic Gardens and Keppel Segher’s Waste-to-Energy plant as part of an optional site visit organized on 17 November.

CLC’s Executive Director, Hugh Lim, opened the workshop and thanked the delegation for their time to attend the workshop despite their busy schedules. He commended Nusantara’s vision and ambition for the new capital city and its goals to be a liveable and loveable city: green, smart, sustainable, resilient and inclusive. Hugh also shared that on 10 November, Minister for National Development, Desmond Lee, and him met with Dr Bambang Susantono over lunch to learn about the latest developments in Nusantara.

CLC also extends its appreciation to the various agencies and partners for contributing to the specially curated programme for the Indonesian delegation. CLC and NNCA/OIKN keenly look forward to the next joint knowledge exchange activity in 2024.
