A Sustainable Future for All
A New Partner for Knowledge Exchange and Collaboration

CLC and SUTD inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 13 March to enhance knowledge exchange and collaboration on urban solutions.
Signed by Hugh Lim, Executive Director, CLC, and Prof Tai Lee Siang, DeputyPresident, Chief Innovation and Enterprise Officer, Centre Director (DesignZ), Programme Director (Design and AI), SUTD, the MoU will foster collaborations to address challenges from urbanisation within cities such as those that advance climate action, health and wellbeing in an urban environment, and urban liveability.
We look forward to working with SUTD on future programmes and projects.

The city of Sydney is taking bold strides for a greener future, implementing urban projects to enhance sustainability and the quality of life of its people. Liveability Framework: Part 7 – Enablers

CLC launched the refreshed Liveability Framework (LF) at the World Cities Summit in June 2024. This is the seventh of a 10-part series on the LF that showcases its various components through bite-sized articles.
In relation to the LF, Science of Cities approaches and evidence-based methods can be viewed as enablers that operate within the space linking systems and outcomes, and serve to augment the effectiveness of systems in addressing complex urban issues and delivering liveability outcomes.

Lecture Report: What Makes Cities Liveable and Loveable

This lecture held in February focused on what makes cities liveable and loveable, and how these indicators can be measured. A distinguished panel comprising Mr Chris Fair, Ms Theresa Sheils, Mr Sebastian Ang, Mr Anupam Yog, and Dr Limin Hee, with Ms Ong Ker-Shing serving as moderator, shared their diverse perspectives on what makes a city tick and thrive, to go beyond the brick-and-mortar façades of our cityscapes to uncover the ‘urban software’ and sense of place that truly defines great cities.
